We shot several continuous takes of Justin performing the song live on mic. The vocal track you hear was taken from the last (and best) take, and since Justin’s singing was consistent between takes it allowed me to edit these alternate angles together into this short music video.
I would have done something more elaborate had I known I would be editing it all together like this, but nonetheless I was still pretty happy with how it turned out.
On Sunday we helped our friend Justin create a video for his entry into the Colgate Fresh Max Karaoke Contest who are “looking for the next Fresh sound.” (You didn’t see that one coming, did you?) The grand prize however is an all-expenses paid trip to New York to record with a Grammy-award winning producer, shoot a video, as well as a live performance.
Contestants must choose one song from fifteen available songs. No vocal enhancements are permitted, so we shot everything in one continuous take using a clip-on mic and the karaoke track playing in the background.
The top five finalists will be chosen by votes from Myspace users and the winner will be chosen by a celebrity judging panel.
Voting begins April 15th and you’ll be able to vote using this link.
As some of you are aware, Matt has just completed his acting coursework at the prestigious Jack McFarland School for Drama, and I wanted to congratulate Matt on his first ever short film feature. Riveting, harrowing, and with a delicately interwoven lesbian subtext, this film will leave the very fiber of your being aching… for more, that is.
